My collages are akin to dreams. Each collage is a story of that moment in time and is at once both personal and collective. Beginning in August 2011, I began creating a collage daily to work through grief associated with the death of my partner. Creating these collages is my sacred meditation and I create from that silent place devoid of thought.
My creative inspiration is steeped in over thirty years of personal, creative and spiritual exploration. My academic background and training reflect my spiritual growth, practice and process. My passions range from engaging in transformational art process, comparative religion, ancient wisdom and Goddess traditions, Jungian psychology, archetypal knowledge, dream study and dream work, mythology, folklore and symbolism.
I am co-owner of The Golden Bee Holistic Center & Gift Shop in Nevada City, CA. I am a white, cisgender, queer femme and other intersectional identities. These identifications filter my perception of the world and my place within it. And as such, likely influences my art. But I never know exactly how to classify myself – am I a queer femme artist making queer art or am I an artist who happens to be a queer femme? What I do know is that when I am in the process of creating, all those words of identification, perception, experience fall away and I exist fully in that liminal, between world creative space. PS: If you read this far, color me impressed! I hope you enjoyed reading and viewing my art.
